General Information

General
-
To qualify for the swim team, each swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance after the first two weeks of practice.
-
Swimmers should attend all practices and meets. Since practice will only help your child’s swimming skills, everyone is expected to attend practices during the week. Attendance will be taken daily. If absence is necessary, please send a note to the coach as far in advance as possible. We will have an advanced absence form at the beginning of the season for known vacations or other summer programs that conflict with our swim schedule.
-
If you need to discuss something with a coach, please arrange to do so before or after practice or leave a message at the pool desk for the coach. Coaches must concentrate on swimmers during practice for safety and liability reasons.
-
Your children are expected to cooperate and do what they are told at practice. If your child’s behavior is distracting other swimmers, he or she will be asked to leave.
-
Though as coaches we must enforce these rules, our main concern is to ensure that your child has a positive swim experience this summer. If at any time you feel that your child is not enjoying him/herself, please feel free to contact one of the parent representatives.
Practices
-
Swimmers who are absent for an entire week of practice will not be allowed to participate in the meet that weekend. This rule allows swimmers who practice everyday to participate in the meet. *Practices will be posted for voluntary makeup. Coaches may allow a swimmer to swim if approval was obtained prior to their absence.
-
A swimmer must practice at least 3 times during the week* (and qualify with a top age group/event time in the previous meet) to qualify for a weekend meet relay.
-
Be on time and be prepared for practice.
-
Practice absences
must be posted in the “Absences Notebook” at the pool or emailed to the Head Coach.
Meets
-
All lineups will be done strictly by time. Heat orders are by slowest to fastest swimmers. Points are earned in all heats by swimmers ages seven and older. This rule also applies to relay teams; the fastest four swimmers will make up the A team. There will be no exceptions to this rule. After the first two weeks of practice, swimmers will be timed at practice to arrange the lineups for the first meet.
-
Swim team “no shows” penalize the entire team. It is unacceptable to miss a meet if your swimmer has signed up to swim. Emergencies do happen and are excusable. If your swimmer must miss a meet, please notify the coach early in the morning before the meet begins, so that the lineup can be adjusted before the meet starts. Adjustments to the lineups will only be allowed up until 7:00 am
-
Each week, swimmers are given the opportunity to sign up for the following meet events they wish to swim. Coaches will use these requests as a guide when creating the lineup. Coaches have the final say so please help support them in their decisions.
-
Both parents of swimmers are required to volunteer during the season. Please be aware that even at away meets, parent volunteers are still needed.
-
After each meet we ask that swimmers, parents, and coaches help to clean the pool area quickly so the pool may open for regular members.
-
Meet absences
must be posted in the “Absences Notebook” at the pool or emailed to the Head Coach.
