New team record for Emily Ettel
Jul 31, 2011, 3:31 pm

Emily Ettel broke her own team record, set earlier this summer, in the 9-10 girls 50 breast at the All-star meet in Castle Rock on 7/23. She swam a converted time of 40.20 - way to go, Emily!

Reid Mather, All-Star
Jul 22, 2011, 10:18 am

Reid Mather swam all-star times in the 13-14 boys 100 breast at prelims and Championships, but because of a glitch in the way the HyTek software handles swimmers who age up out of their age group during the season, he was not recognized for this. Apologies to Reid and his family, and congrats for making those cuts!

Records fall like rain at Championships
Jul 17, 2011, 10:42 am

Our Whalers set four new team records yesterday, which in this old seafarer's memory is unprecedented. Sean Kuster broke his own records in the 15-18 boys 200 free and 100 back, Mable Miao broke her own record in the 9-10 girls 50 back, and the 9-10 girls medley relay team of Allison Cremer, Emily Ettel, Mable Miao and Katelyn Soards broke their own record in the 200 yard MR.

Thanks to all our swimmers for working so hard and swimming so well this season!

Jul 14, 2011, 10:39 pm

Jaron O'Grady at the Clarke Farms prelim broke Luke Wagner's team record in the 7-8 boys 50 free. His time converts to 35.99 - the old record was 36.27, from 1990. Congrats, Jaron!

Mable does it again
Jul 14, 2011, 2:54 pm

Mable Miao broke her own records in the 9-10 girls 100 free and 50 back at the Willow Creek prelim meet this week. She shaved a couple of tenths from the records she set earlier this summer. Keep up the great work in the pool, Mable!

Team record updates
Jul 10, 2011, 10:09 pm

Folks, in going through the team records tonight, I've discovered quite a few mistakes and omissions. Most of these represent minor time differences and do not change the record holding swimmer or relay team. However, there are a few corrections of note, because they do mean we have some new record holders. Those are as follows:

8 & Under girls 25 yard breaststroke - Lydia Walker, 21.17, 7/26/07
11-12 girls 50 yard backstroke - Renata Starbird, 41.72, 6/25/11
13-14 girls 100 yard butterfly - Miranda Meyer, 1:07.49, 7/14/08
15-18 girls 200 yard freestyle - Amanda Gwaltney, 2:08.85, 7/26/03

Almost all of the record changes I made tonight were necessary because it is so easy to overlook records that were set at an away meet, especially when it's at a meter pool. There is no automated process for checking for new records under those circumstances - it's a limitation of the Team Manager software, but tonight I found a workaround for this limitation that should enable us to avoid overlooking new records from away meets in the future.

Please visit the Team Records page on this site and congratulate our new record holders!

Six of the eight 9-10 girls team records have now been set this year - that is quite a group of swimmers we have!

Emily Ettel sets new team record!
Jul 10, 2011, 11:12 am

At the Holly Park meet yesterday, Emily Ettel set a new team record in the 9-10 girls 50 yard breaststroke, beating Rachael Martin's 15 year old mark in the event. Emily's time of 45.10 in the Holly Park meter pool converts to 40.63 - congrats, Emily!

Mable at it again
Jun 19, 2011, 3:21 pm

Mable Miao broke her own record in the 9-10 girls 50 free at Clarke Farms yesterday. Her time of 32.81 in their meter pool converts to a 29.56, a tenth of a second better than the record she set a week ago. Way to go, Mable!

Mable rewrites the record book
Jun 12, 2011, 11:04 am

Mable Miao continued her assault on the team records at yesterday's meet with Castle Pines Village at the A-Lake pool. Mable, Allison Cremer, Emily Ettel, and Katelyn Soards broke an 18-year-old record in the 9-10 girls 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:43.22 - two seconds better than the old record. Then in the 50 free, Mable swam a 29.66, beating her own record from last summer by three seconds. Later, in the 100 IM, Mable broke our longest-standing record (from 1985) by eight seconds with a 1:18.37. Congratulations to all four girls!

We also had a new MHSL record set at the pool yesterday, in the very first event. Chris Dawson of Castle Pines swam a 1:55.10 in the 13-14 boys 200 free, just beating a League record that had stood for 12 years.

 A FEW REMINDERS:

1. Try to make it to as many practices and meets as you can.

2. Ask your parents not to talk to the coaches while they are actively teaching.

3. If you have event preferences, list them on the board by Wednesday.

4. Don't show up for a meet and ask for your event to be changed (see rule #3).

5. Listen to the coaches and follow the pool rules.

6. Cheer louder than your coaches at the pre-meet shout out!!!!
